Rich Steele
2008-2009 St. Clairsville Sunrise Rotary President

As Rotarians begin Rotary International's 104th year to live our motto of "Service Above Self", it is my distinct honor to serve the St. Clairsville, Ohio sunrise Rotary Club during the period of July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009 as President.

In the 1920's Rotary International developed four avenues of service to clarify the Object of Rotary so that each club could better reach its overall potential. Our club is meeting these four challenges as follows:

Club Service which focuses on strengthening fellowship among its members and ensuring the effective functioning of the club. To meet this avenue of service, out club conducts a summer pool party cook-out and a winter dinner dance to strengthen fellowship. Also, elected officers and board members along with an active committee structure are in place to maintain the effective functioning of the club.

Vocational Service which encourages Rotarians to serve others through their vocations and practice high ethical standards. To meet this category, weekly meetings are conducted with programs to educate and inform club members on issues and activities important to our community, state and nation. Additionally, in October the club will conduct a vocational service activity to promote high ethical standards in business and professional life.

Community Service which covers the projects and activities the club undertakes to improve life in its community. Throughout each year out club members share their time, talent, expertise and money to support our community. some of the agencies and projects include: The Saint Clairsville Public Children's Library, The Saint Clairsville City park playground and the Memorial Park clean-up, the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Easter Seals, Miracle of Life, Young Life, Special Wish, the Rodney Hanson Memorial Golf Scramble and college scholarships for graduates of Saint Clairsville High School.

International Service which encompasses actions taken to expand Rotary's humanitarian reach around the globe and promote world understanding and peace. This year our club in partnership with the other Belmont County Rotary clubs, will provide monetary support to the Rafiki, Kenya Farm and Orphanage to fulfill our commitment to Rotary's world-wide objective to promote the betterment of mankind.

COME JOIN US AND ENJOY THE SENSE OF PRIDE IN BEING A ROTARIAN.
